Figure Legend Snippet: In situ hybridization (ISH) of genes highly expressed in the ventricular zone (VZ) during embryonic development from the Allen Developing Mouse Brain Atlas. (A) Network of genes with high differential expression in the VZ of the mouse brain at age E15.5. The strength of correlation between the genes was at least an r -value of 0.7. The rectangle indicates genes with reduced expression in the ganglionic eminence (GE). (B–N) Individual ISH images of genes from the VZ network (A) . All genes show preferential expression in the proliferating cells of the VZ. Pcnt (J) is specifically expressed on the lateral wall of the lateral ventricle (indicated by the arrowhead). Four genes; Cdon (B) , Celsr1 (C) , Eomes (F) , and Neurog2 (H) have decreased expression in the GE (indicated by arrows).
